Brittany Murphy was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 10, 1977. Her parents, Sharon Murphy and Angelo Bertolotti, divorced when she was two years old, and Murphy was raised by her mother in Edison, New Jersey, and later in Los Angeles, where they moved so Murphy could pursue an acting career. MEET ERICA Erica Michelle Sobol is a Los Angeles original, born and raised in the city. After high school, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in the performing arts. There Erica earned a BA in dance-theater from Barnard College at Columbia University and began her professional dance training at Broadway Dance Center, working most often under Wes Veldink, David Marquez, Michele Assaf, and Rhapsody James. Attempts at resuscitating him by his personal physician were unsuccessful. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics received a 911 call at 12:21 pm (PDT), and arrived nine minutes later at Jackson’s location. He was reportedly not breathing and CPR was performed. Resuscitation efforts continued both en route to the UCLA Medical Center, and for an hour further after arriving at approximately 1:14 pm (20:14 UTC). He was noted to have already been in cardiac arrest by the paramedics who attended his house. Jackson was pronounced dead at about 2:26 pm local time (21:26 UTC). Many news organizations were generally very cautious about the initial reports of his death. After a rare, clutch miss in Game 1, MJ would redeem himself here to bring Game 3 into OT. Brittany Anne Murphy-Monjack (November 10, 1977 — December 20, 2009), known professionally as Brittany Murphy, was an American actress and singer. She starred in films such as Clueless; Just Married; Girl, Interrupted; Spun; 8 Mile; Uptown Girls; Sin City; Happy Feet; and Riding in Cars with Boys. She voiced Luanne Platter on the animated TV series King of the Hill. Her final film, Abandoned, is expected to be released in 2010. At 08:00 (16:00 GMT) on December 20, 2009, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to “a medical request” at the Los Angeles home Murphy and Monjack shared. She had apparently collapsed in a bathroom. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate Murphy on the scene. She was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival at 10:04 after going into cardiac arrest. Shortly after her death, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told the Associated Press: “It appears to be natural.” An autopsy was performed on December 21, 2009. Her death certificate listed the cause of death as “deferred”.
